MEET MALLORY

Our most unique team member.

Mallory is technically a cat.

But she walks on a leash, joins supply runs, investigates unattended purses, and has become a familiar face around Southwest Florida.

Somewhere along the way, she also became part of the SWFL Commercial Group team.

OFFICIAL "PROPuRrTY" INSPECTOR

Cat by species. Something else entirely by personality.

Mallory does not behave like most cats.

She walks on a leash like it's completely normal, tags along on errands, and rarely passes an open purse without checking what's inside.

She's also become a familiar face at Lowe's and Home Depot — which says quite a bit about how often she ends up joining a supply run.

No one officially hired her. She just kept showing up.

Mallory's Officially Unofficial Duties

Supply Run Inspector

If someone is heading out for supplies, Mallory is always interested in joining.

Purse Investigator

Any unattended bag is considered worthy of further inspection.

Local Celebrity

She has become recognizable at more than one Southwest Florida hardware store.

Unscheduled Team Member

She may not be on the calendar, but that has never stopped her from making an appearance.

MALLORY'S STORY

Sometimes One Little Life Changes Everything

A note from Patrice

I want to tell you about Mallory.

Mallory was found crossing all six lanes of Highway 41, just south of Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers. When she was rescued, she was in heartbreaking condition.

Mallory was malnourished, had stomatitis, and her coat was dull and shaggy. She was in desperate need of veterinary care. She was scared, vulnerable, and simply trying to survive.

Someone could have driven right past her. Anyone could have run her over.

Someone could have thought, “Surely somebody else will help.”

But someone stopped.

A Haven on Earth volunteer stopped, and because she did, Mallory got a second chance — and eventually, her forever home.

Today, I can hardly believe that frightened, struggling kitty is the same little soul who came into my life four short years ago.

I am truly blessed to have Mallory. She is my soulmate — and, around here, our unofficial "Propurrty Inspector".

She walks on a leash everywhere. She accompanies me on shopping excursions, supply runs, car rides, trips to the bank, and just about anywhere else we decide to go. She especially loves visiting Lowe’s and Home Depot, where she explores every single aisle and greets anyone and everyone she comes across.

But Mallory’s Story Is Only One Story

Here in Southwest Florida, there are kitties who wake up every day wondering where their next meal will come from, where they can hide from the heat and storms, and whether anyone will ever come looking for them.

Some were abandoned.

Some were born outside because their mothers had nowhere safe to go.

Some were once someone’s precious babies, only to suddenly find themselves alone in a world they don’t recognize — literally dumped like trash.

And behind every frightened little face is a little heart that is hungry, scared, and searching for safety.

Most people are completely unaware of how quickly the cat population can grow here in Southwest Florida. Kitties can have as many as five litters a year, averaging six to eight kittens per litter.

In Lee County alone, it is estimated that there are approximately 250,000 feral and homeless kitties. In Collier County, the estimate is 50,000, and in Charlotte County, approximately 30,000.

That is why Haven on Earth keeps showing up.

They rescue them when they can. They feed them. They get them veterinary care. They foster them, and they do their very best to find them loving forever homes.

But Haven cannot do this without support from our community.

Join Us in Helping

I encourage you to join SWFL Commercial Group in making a monthly contribution to Haven on Earth Animal League.

Contributions can help support programs such as TNR, purchasing food and litter, assisting with veterinary expenses, or wherever help is most urgently needed at the time.

One small act can make an enormous difference.

Mallory is living proof.
